The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management of the North East State of Somalia is the lead government institution responsible for coordinating humanitarian assistance and managing disaster risks across the state. The Ministry plays a central role in responding to emergencies, reducing vulnerabilities, and strengthening the resilience of communities affected by natural and man-made disasters.
The Ministry operates across all regions of North East State and works to ensure timely and effective humanitarian response during crises such as droughts, floods, and other emergencies. It collaborates closely with government institutions, international organizations, and local partners to deliver coordinated and life-saving assistance.
In addition to emergency response, the Ministry is responsible for disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, and recovery and rehabilitation programs. It also develops policies and strategies that support sustainable development and enhance the capacity of communities to prepare for and respond to disasters.
Through its integrated and coordinated approach, the Ministry ensures that humanitarian interventions are aligned with national priorities and that assistance reaches the most vulnerable populations in an efficient, transparent, and accountable manner.
